- Mercy Health - Cincinnati is aiming to improve the patient experience by rolling out an in-hospital wayfinding app for Apple and Android devices, making it easier for visitors to find everything from their physician to their parking spot.

The “Right this Way” app will provide outdoor, indoor, and campus-wide navigation for visitors to The Jewish Hospital. Right this Way also guides visitors to specific provider practices throughout their facilities.

Mercy Health - Cincinnati is the first health system in the greater Cincinnati area to launch a wayfinding app of this scope.

“Right This Way makes it easy for patients and visitors to find their way around the hospital. It offers detail-rich indoor maps, turn-by-turn indoor navigation, parking help and more on cell phones, kiosks and on Mercy Health’s website,” said Pat Davis-Hagens, Mercy Health Central Market President and CEO.

“We’re always looking to improve the experience of both our patients and visitors and we launched the app to guide you to the department or room you want to visit, remember where you parked and help reduce missed or late appointments.”

Other features within the app include turn-by-turn indoor navigation, which provides visitors indoor positioning within one to two meters. The navigation platform assists users with visual landmarks and off-route notifications.

Another navigation feature called the “The Car Saver” function, saves a visitor’s parking locations and provides detailed directions back to their spot.

Users can access the app interface from either the hospital’s indoor kiosks, their desktop computer, or a mobile device. Visitors can also input vital information, such as their visitor details, before entering the hospital.

The indoor GPS system runs on Medinav, a low-energy Bluetooth platform of bdeveloped by Connexient.

“We are honored to announce Mercy Health as a new client,” commented Mark Green, Connexient CEO and Co-Founder.

“Its commitment to both innovation and delivering outstanding patient experience makes Mercy Health an ideal partner as we continue to expand and enhance MediNav as the best-of-breed Indoor Navigation and Digital Wayfinding solution for healthcare.”
