Tomorrow: Telehealth to Feature in Public Senate Hearing
- Telehealth will have a moment on the national stage as US Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, leads a Senate hearing about the impact and future of remote care within the framework of the healthcare system.
The hearing will delve into the private telehealth services industry, attempting to gauge progress and meaningfulness as state laws restricting and delineating the provision of remote care continue to proliferate. The committee will also address how telehealth can help to expand care access for rural and underserved populations pursuant to a Congressional resolution calling improved access to healthcare services “essential to the survival and success of communities in the United States.”
Available to watch live through streaming video from the Senate floor, the hearing will call for testimony from a number of telehealth expert witnesses, including Jonathan Linkous, CEO of the American Telemedicine Association and Dr. M. Chris Gibbons, Distinguished Scholar in Residence of the FFC’s Connect2HealthFCC Task Force.
The hearing begins at 10:00 AM Eastern time, and can be streamed through the Senate’s live feed here.
