AdventHealth Expands Walt Disney World Partnership to Include Telehealth

May 10, 2021 - Telehealth is coming to the Magic Kingdom.

AdventHealth has announced the expansion of a 20-year partnership with Walt Disney World to include connected health services at the Florida theme park. This will include an on-demand telehealth platform that guests, employees and others can access at any time and an mHealth app for scheduling virtual care.

“The health and well-being of our guests as they enjoy a visit to Walt Disney World is very important to us,” Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle said in a recent press release. “This enhanced relationship allows for access to AdventHealth’s services, as needed, should our guests have healthcare questions both before or during their vacation.”

The announcement marks an ongoing strategy by health systems like Florida-based AdventHealth to market their connected health services to unique locations like theme parks, resorts, shopping malls, business parks and supermarkets – as well as cruise ships, oil drilling platforms and commercial shipping fleets.

The partnerships offer health systems a chance to market their brand and capture business through a direct-to-consumer telehealth platform, while also expanding business relationships and opening the door to virtual care services like primary and specialty care.

In this agreement, AdventHealth will build a stand-alone ER at Walt Disney World’s Flamingo Crossings Town Center, creating an on-site location for urgent care needs.

They’re also launching the AdventHealth World of Wellness, a telehealth platform that allows visitors, including those with chronic health conditions, to plan their healthcare needs ahead of a visit and manage their care while they’re at the park.

“AdventHealth and Walt Disney World Resort have enjoyed a longstanding relationship and we are excited to launch this pioneering initiative, which will allow Resort guests to plan and customize their vacation around their unique health needs,” AdventHealth President and CEO Terry Shaw said in the press release. “ Guests can experience the Walt Disney World Resort with the confidence of knowing they are supported by AdventHealth’s world-class clinical team who is dedicated to providing whole-person, compassionate care to every patient we serve.”

Disney also plans to add “welcoming enhancements” to AdventHealth for Children and the health system’s pediatric sites around the state. And the health system will continue as the healthcare provider at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex and runDisney events.

In addition, the health system has reportedly been named the official telehealth provider for Disneyland in California.
